My not so little girl

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

So I don't have any real updates on Michael but I wanted to share a little about Michaella.
I have always said I got real lucky with Michaella. We have managed to come nearly 4 years with a very well behaved little girl. WELL she is bound and determined to prove us otherwise now!
I don't know if this is a phase or real colors coming through but Michaella can be a real brat lately. She is now one of those kids that runs around the store screaming hiding underneath the clothes and I'm that Mom that keeps barking "Michaella stop it! Michaella Come here right now. Kaella , Kaella, Michaella!" Or this little girl that loved dance lessons and acted like the star of the show at the last recital now has decided she doesn't like it. So she digs her heals in when she is supposed to go into class and when I finally shove her in there she sit in the middle of the room and pouts or cries. So THEN I'm that Mommy that starts bribing and when that doesn't work I start threatening "Michaella we can go and buy you a new toy if you go in and be a big girl. Kae we can go and get some ice cream. Kaella Grandma and Papa are coming next week and I'll have to call them and tell them not to come. Michaella I'm going to have to take your Barbies away!"
At home she's mouthy and bossy. She even has that bratty tone in her voice. Saturday she ended up being sent to a nap with both her Barbies and her Teddy Bear taken away. After about an hour she comes out of her room with full dramatics stretching her arms and yawning "Good Morning Mommy! That was a long nap!" I was thinking oh how cute. So I started to make her lunch and while I was getting something out of the pantry she says something about playing with her Princesses and all of a sudden she stops. I look at her and ask her if she even took a nap. She looked at her feet and said No. Then I asked her if she lied to me and she confessed "yes". I was blown away at the specifics and how much she thought out that lie. She threw in full dramatics too! She is almost 4 and she has become an expert liar! It wasn't just a did you write on the walls , NO kind of lie. It was "hmmm if I want out of here I have to had taken a nap so I have to act like I took a nap" kind of lie.
Anyway. She's still on restriction from her Barbies but she did get her Teddy back. I truly hope this is just a phase.

Update

Well the weekend went pretty well. Saturday Mike passed one of the stones with very little pain. And Sunday he really started to feel better. He is still very tired but he thinks the infection is starting to go away! YEAH! We still are not out of the woods yet but this is a really good step in the right direction.

More news

Well to make matters worse Mike got some test results in this morning that aren't great. He either has a prostate infection or a slim chance of prostate cancer. The Dr put him on 2 more weeks of antibiotics and flomax which I guess help shrink the prostate. Mike has been having troubles urinating and come to find out this is why. The Dr informed him that if he goes 4 hrs with out being able to go we need to go to the emergency room so they can insert a catheter so that his bladder doesn't explode. This is a pretty serious situation. In fact kidney stones comes in second to this. They can't really do any further testing until they get the infection under control and Mike is healthy. Who knows how long that will be. I know this is the last thing I should be worried about but our trip to Mexico is in 4 weeks. I'm feeling kinda down wondering why this has to be happening now. Or why is this happening at all?

My poor guy

Thursday, March 13, 2008

So I mentioned that Mike woke up Saturday night with a fever. I assumed it was from the same flu bug both Michaella and I seemed to have and figured it was just kitting him longer. Mike thought it was an urinary tract infection. But neither of as really knew. Well the fever continued on Sunday and Monday and he was still noticing the symptoms of a UTI. Tuesday was another horrible day for him. That night he started getting pain in his back and he finally decided it was time to go into the Doctor.
Well all he could go to was an Urgent care clinic so the amount of tests they could do were limited. They gave him 3 different meds and made an appointment for first thing in the morning. But at this time we knew it was serious. They had him on an antibiotic a pain med and a med that turned his pee orange (I don't know don't ask me). So all Tuesday night I worried and fretted. I was really concerned about him and I knew he was in a lot of pain.
Yesterday morning he went in and found out he had not only a UTI but also a kidney infection. The Doctor wanted to find out what was causing them because it isn't normal for men to get these kind of infections and this is Mike's 4th infection at least in about 9 years. So he scheduled a CT Scan that same day, an appointment the next morning (today) to go over results and check up on him and then also with a urologist to do a scope on Friday.
Last night was another one of those excruciating nights. Mike was so weak and sick and he was throwing up all the time because his body was infected. Cancer or some other terrible fate was going through my head, I was terrified.
This morning at his appointment he found out he had 6 kidney stones. All about 2-3m in size. I guess your body can pass up to 5mm so they aren't going in to zap them or anything. So in a way that is a blessing because it wasn't anything worse but I feel SO bad for him. He doesn't handle pain well. So needless to say it is going to be almost as tough on me...okay not really but there will be pain involved on my end too.

The yuckies

Monday, March 10, 2008

Well we all got sick this weekend. I left work early on Friday and then went home ans slept the rest of the day. That night I had a fever of 101. Saturday we got up and got ready for Ballet and I felt okay. On the drive to dance lessons Michaella fell asleep which is odd considering she'd only been up about 2 1/2 hours. When we got to dance lessons she got really clingy when I finally was able to pry her off of me She just sat in the middle of the room and cried. SO I picked her up and went home. We got home and took a nap. That is all it took for Michaella but then I started running a fever again. So with the sore throat, the aches, the chills and the fever I thought for sure I had strep. So I decided to go to the Doctor.
Now I've had strep many times in my life and I have yet to be wrong once when I thought it was strep. There's always a first though! I didn't have strep. I actually would have rather had it then I could get the antibiotics and feel better pretty quickly. So I was disappointed. Along with that I also got weighed at the Doctors office...my damn scale at home is off by 4 lbs and not in the right way!! I was so mad. But I am trying to remind myself of how good I feel and that I AM buying smaller clothes. So I just need to keep going.
Well Saturday night Mike woke up in the middle of the night with a fever. So he was sick all day yesterday also and I had sympathy for him because I knew how it felt. Then this morning the full effects of time change hit and ALL of us are really struggling to get back in the groove. Michaella had such a hard time waking up this morning she even asked if she could go back to sleep in the car. We are only a mile from the Babysitters house. Oh well at least it stays lighter later and I feel like I can get so much more done at night.

The Basement

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Okay Michael has decided it is time to finish the basement. We have been talking about it for quite awhile and he wants that to be his big project this year. We have discussed bringing in a GC and then also kind of discussed doing as much of it as we could.

Well last night Mike comes in the back door, informs me he has bought a miter saw and HE is going to finish the basement. I was very hesitant. That is a lot to think about. I love my husband and he can do anything he puts his mind to, but all the permits that need to be pulled and comprehending what is needed for inspections really scares me. Mike the next morning also came to that same conclusion that inspectors and fines really scared him. So we now have 4 people coming in for quotes the next few days and we will keep the miter saw and the wood to do other projects. If anyone has any tips or thoughts let me know so that we don't have the wool pulled over our eyes.

I will freely admit I don't have a clue on this stuff and I'm not going to even pretend that I do.
